The Minnesota Vikings made another transaction today on their practice squad, adding quarterback Chandler Harnish to the team and releasing wide receiver Donte Foster.

Here is a tweet from 1500ESPN’s Andrew Krammer confirming the move:

Minnesota most likely made this move after an x-ray and MRI were needed on Vikings starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater after he was injured in last week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.  Although the tests came back good and Bridgewater should be clear to play, the Vikings aren’t taking any chances and are adding more passers to the team in case of emergency.

Adding Chandler Harnish makes him the fifth quarterback on Minnesota’s payroll.  Teddy Bridgewater and Christian Ponder are on the main roster, McLeod Bethel-Thompson and now Harnish are on the practice squad, and Matt Cassel is on the team’s injured reserve list.

Chandler Harnish is best known for being “Mr. Irrelevant” in the 2012 NFL Draft.  Despite that, he spent 2012-2014 on the Indianapolis Colts roster before being released and added to Minnesota’s practice squad.

Wide Receiver Donte Foster was released from the practice squad to make room for him on the team.

We at The Viking Age would like to welcome Chandler Harnish to the Minnesota Vikings as well as wish wide receiver Donte Foster the best of luck in all his future endeavors.
