Greg Jennings: Not Having Peterson ‘Definitely Impacted’ Vikings

Not having former NFL Most Valuable Player Adrian Peterson available for most of the 2014 NFL season was frustrating for many fans of the Minnesota Vikings.  But they weren’t the only ones that missed the star running back.  Recently, wide receiver Greg Jennings spoke about how much impact Peterson’s absence had on the team.

In an interview with Mike Florio on Pro Football Talk Live, Jennings discussed just how much the offense missed Adrian Peterson.  Here’s what he had to say:

"“It had a great deal of impact. Obviously when you’re talking about a guy like Adrian who any one of the other 31 teams would love to have as their running back, he changes the course of every game. … Not having him definitely impacted what we were able to do offensively,” Jennings said."

There’s no doubt that Adrian Peterson is a game changing player.  And although Matt Asiata, Jerick McKinnon, Joe Banyard and Ben Tate all put in great efforts this season, they don’t have the kind of impact on a game that a dynamic running back like Adrian Peterson can have.  In fact, Peterson can draw so much attention in the run game that it can open things up for the passing game.  And opening things up would have been great for rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who found himself thrust into action after an injury to starter Matt Cassel’s foot.

Here is the rest of Greg Jennings’ interview with Mike Florio:

If Adrian Peterson returns to the Vikings, he could be a major help for this Minnesota Vikings team for the 2015 NFL season.  Sadly, we’ll all have to keep waiting until a decision is made on his Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission List status.
