Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is never afraid to hide his faith. He’s been seen in many interviews talking about his relationship to God and posts regularly about it on social media.
Peterson has received a lot of criticism from the media as well as fans all over the world following an incident where he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor reckless assault in November. The action involved in this lawsuit was the excessive discipline of his 4-year-old son.
Quick to judge, many media outlets called for the outright release or trade of Adrian Peterson. But Adrian has made it clear that only God can judge him.
He made that statement even more clear today on Twitter when he unveiled a massive tattoo over his heart. Here is the post of the new body art that Peterson is sporting:
Included in the tweet is a a selection from The Bible (Ephesians 6:10-18):
"The Armor of God “10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvationand the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”"
The tattoo runs over his chest and down his left arm. The letter “A” is written in a seal over his heart with the words “Shield of Faith” below. On his shoulder is a lion. I’m also told there is a sword with an open Bible in the tattoo, but I can’t see that in the photo.
Adrian Peterson isn’t the only one who will be sporting new ink during Minnesota Vikings training camp. Tight end Kyle Rudolph got a significant amount of tattoo work done back in May when he got a sleeve of tattoos done. Here is the tweet showing off the new look:
