Babatunde Aiyegbusi has a way to go, but loves his fans
By Adam Carlson
Polish prospect Babatunde Aiyegbusi has warmed the hearts of many fans with the amazing story of his road to the NFL. Other fans are left in awe when they see a man standing 6’9″ and weighing 351 pounds. Without even playing a single regular season snap for the team, a lot of hype has surrounded this intriguing player.
However fans need to taper their expectations a little bit. While Babatunde Aiyegbusi is a monster of a man, there is a lot to learn about playing in the National Football League. It takes much more than just size and power to succeed in the NFL, it also takes speed, technique, and football smarts. And those are things that he is currently working hard to improve upon according to an article on Scout.com.
Here is what Babatunde Aiyegbusi had to say about his work this preseason so far:
"“The improvement is coming, but I know I have a long way to go. The longer I’m here, the more things there are that I can work on and improve. It’s not easy, but I am willing to learn. The coaching staff is working hard with me and I’m willing to learn to achieve the goals I have to play in the NFL.”"
Despite being a very raw talent, he definitely has the physical assets needed to succeed in the NFL. But expecting him to make an impact during the 2015 season could be asking far too much of Babatunde Aiyegbusi. “Babs”, as he’s called by fans and teammates, knows that he’s not quite at that point yet, but has the willingness to put in the effort to succeed.
That effort has been noticed by fans, especially at Minnesota Vikings training camp, where he is one of the most popular autograph targets on the team. And although autographs are awesome, there are many fans who just want a photo with the gigantic man.
"“I feel like the Vikings fans are the most crazy guys in the league. Every day after practice people are wanting pictures me because I’m a big guy and a lot bigger than most of them. It’s a great feeling to know that they know who you are and want to get a picture with you.”"
And “Babs” has no problem signing many things and taking a lot of photos with people, as shown in this photo from @vikingspress on Twitter:
Many fans will get their first look at the Polish powerhouse tonight during the Hall of Fame Game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Be sure to tune in tonight (August 9, 2015) at 8/7 central to get a look at what this very interesting man can do on the football field.
