Vikings are ‘kind of shocked right now’ Captain Munnerlyn says

The Minnesota Vikings are on the ropes following their third straight loss during week 9 to the Detroit Lions, and the team is ‘kind of shocked right now’.

When a team opens the season with a 5-0 record, it is hard to believe they would endure a three-game slide. However, the Minnesota Vikings are that exact situation heading into week 10 against the Washington Redskins.

It it totally understandable that the team would struggle. For any NFL franchise to lose their star running back, quarterback, left tackle, right tackle, and more for extended periods of time, there is bound to be some drop off when it comes to efficiency. But dropping 3 in a row to teams Minnesota should have beaten or at least been competitive against is a real downer.

If fans are disappointed with the team, it is hard to imagine how things feel in the locker room. At one time, the Vikings were the only undefeated team in the league, but now they are losing the grip on their division and the dreams of the playoffs are starting to fade away.

According to an article on the Star Tribune website, the Minnesota locker room is stunned and feel like their backs are up against the wall.

"“I don’t know. We’re kind of shocked right now,” Vikings cornerback Captain Munnerlyn said. “We’re definitely fixing to see what this team is made of now.”"

And the team may have to see what they are made of without the services of Munnerlyn. The veteran cornerback was seen on crutches with a knee brace following the game and was already dealing with a foot injury after last week’s contest with the Bears.

"“I knew there was something going on,” Munnerlyn said. “I tried to give it a go and just couldn’t.”"

Munnerlyn has been excellent as a nickel cornerback for Minnesota, who will now shift Terence Newman to that spot, making Trae Waynes a starter on the outside. Of course, if Captain Munnerlyn can return, those jobs will likely return to their usual order on the depth chart.
