There were some fast players during the 2016 NFL season, but two members of the Minnesota Vikings landed on NFL.com’s Top 10 Fastest Players of 2016 list.

When it comes to the NFL, speed is a huge factor. The ability of a Minnesota Vikings defensive back to keep pace with a streaking wide receiver or running back to break away from the pack can make a big change on the scoreboard.

In honor of the Indy 500, the official Twitter account of the NFL shared a video featuring some of the fastest players of the 2016 season, and two members of Minnesota’s football team were included in the list.

Here is that tweet from the Twitter account of the NFL:

Surprisingly, both players from the Vikings were in the top 5 of the countdown, and were right next to each other.

More from The Viking Age

The first member of the Vikings comes in at #4. In this play, cornerback Xavier Rhodes intercepts a pass from Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer and returns it for a touchdown. On his way to the endzone, he reached a top speed of 22.4 miles per hour.

Up next for Minnesota is Stefon Diggs at #3. Playing against the Green Bay Packers, Diggs was streaking down the field where he caught a pass from Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford. During his path to the end zone, Diggs reached 22.5 miles per hour.

The number one play on the countdown belonged to Kansas City Chiefs kick return specialist and offensive weapon Tyreek Hill. On a free kick return, Hill was able to hit 22.7 miles per hour, an astounding speed for any player in full pads during a game.
