The Minnesota Vikings are returning to a “blue-collar” approach to football, and part of that means getting some players up to speed before practices start.

Getting a team on the same page can be a massive challenge. Not only are there players adapting to new roles or situations but new faces are joining the Minnesota Vikings and need to be brought up to speed before joining the rest of their teammates.

This year, the Vikings are doing something a little different by having their quarterbacks, rookies, and select players who missed time due to injury report to training camp for check in one day before other players according to the ESPN website.

Reporting early is part of the team’s new approach under head coach Mike Zimmer where the team will “get back to being the Vikings” by having a more “blue-collar” approach to how the franchise does things.

The rookies, quarterbacks, and injured players will report on Sunday, July 23rd with the rest of the team arriving the next day and having a walk-through to go along with a practice.

The major focus for Zimmer was a simple one, as shared by ESPN:

"“Zimmer said this spring he was focused last year on making sure his team — which was listed among the NFC favorites after winning a division title in 2015 — got to the start of the regular season healthy.”"

In addition, this could be the final year that Minnesota holds their training camp in Mankato, as the new practice facility and headquarters will likely be ready to go by next year and be the new home for all the preseason activities aside from the preseason games.

Hopefully, the extra time for the rookies, quarterbacks, and players struggling with injury will help everyone be on the same page for when the Minnesota Vikings being their official walk-through and practices.
