The Minnesota Vikings got off to a rough start to their 2023 season, losing as six-point favorites to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Now, they have to head to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles on Thursday Night Football. Do they have any chance at all of bouncing back against the defending NFC champions? I'm going to dive into that question and more in my full betting preview for the game.

Vikings vs. Eagles key players to watch

Minnesota Vikings

Jordan Addison: Only one game into his NFL career and he's already proving to be a fantastic No. 2 option for the Vikings on the opposite side of Justin Jefferson. He hauled in four receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Buccaneers. He'll need to be at his best for Thursday Night Football against a stout Eagles defense.

Philadelphia Eagles

Darius Slay: Darius Slay will likely be covering the best receiver in the NFL, Justin Jefferson, with James Bradberry questionable for the game. That's a tall order for any player, but Slay is coming off a strong performance against the Patriots where he got a 70-yard pick six. Another performance like that is much-needed against Jefferson and the Vikings.

Vikings vs. Eagles prediction and pick

I don't think we should overreact to the Vikings Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers. Yes, it was a tough pill to swallow, but Minnesota fans should take comfort in the fact they severely outplayed the Buccaneers. They gained 5.9 yards per play while allowing the Buccaneers to gain just 3.9.

Now, that may make the loss sting even more, but at least this outcome paints a brighter picture for games to come. It would be a disaster if they not only lost, but were also outplayed by the lowly Bucs.

Meanwhile, the Eagles defense looked average at best for the most part against a Patriots offense that's largely weapon-less. If they can let Mac Jones and company do that to them, I think the Vikings should be able to find success moving the ball as well.

Will Minnesota win? That's going to be tough, but with the point spread set at a full touchdown and extra point, I'll take the points with the Vikings.
