Dueling Jared Allen Reports

There’s lots of different stuff coming out of lots of different places about Jared Allen.

From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

"Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen is in the Twin Cities today meeting with Vikings officials and it sounds as if the team will try to keep him here until an agreement is reached both with Allen on a contract and with the Chiefs on compensation. That doesn’t mean it’s a slam dunk Allen ends up in Purple but it seems as if the folks at Winter Park certainly have their hopes up. (It’s a safe bet the people across the street who are in charge of marketing the Vikings also have high hopes.)"

And:

"As of 3:50 p.m., Allen remains inside Winter Park. How do we know this? Well, a very big limousine is sitting in the parking lot of the Vikings facility. The Vikings also had limos wait outside when they were negotiating with free agents Bernard Berrian and Madieu Williams."

And from the St. Petersburg Times:

"We’ll update you when there’s more to report. Right now, Allen is still tentatively scheduled to arrive [in Tampa] early next week. Whether that changes likely depends on how things go the rest of the day in Minny.We got word from a very reliable source late Thursday afternoon that this deal was a long way from done with either the Vikings or Bucs. But things can change quickly when it comes to negotiations."

Zygi Wilf always gets his man.  That’s why I know Jared Allen will be a Viking.

And to think, a few weeks ago we were sweating not getting Justin Smith and Antwan Odom.
