Big Pat, Jared Allen Take Swipes at Pack, Rodgers

Pat Williams may not be able to practice much or play in preseason games (still has that bad elbow) but he can still talk all he wants.  No, he’s not going after Olin Kreutz again…this time the mammoth defensive tackle has elected to make the Green Bay Packers the target of his wrath.  Pat was speaking to Michael Silver of Yahoo! sports about the whole Favre fiasco when the following spewed forth:

"Damn, that’s their problem.  They’re going through all that as a team, trying to figure out if Favre or Rodgers was the man, while we’ve got the same team we had all offseason. I’m glad they got all that darn press, cause when we go down there it’ll be the kid’s first start and his first damn loss."

Right on big man!!!

Pat continued with his own personal analysis of Favre vs. Rodgers:

"They had a nice year last year, but they don’t understand that Brett made those guys better than they were.  He has the game all figured out, and you’ve got to factor all that into the equation. Brett Favre would throw the ball when the receivers hadn’t even made their cut yet, and it would be there waiting for them. Those guys had it good."

"People think it’s the system, but it ain’t no damn system. Brett Favre just knows where his guys are going to be at all times, and I don’t think Aaron Rodgers has got that yet."

So Pat thinks the Packers are in for a rude awakening.  And speaking of rude awakenings…Jared Allen plans on giving Aaron Rodgers one.  Said the All-Pro defensive end:

"Playing Green Bay on Monday night to start the season – that’s everything you want. Hopefully, I can put my helmet square in the back of [Rodgers’] spine. If I can do that and knock the ball loose, it’ll be a good day."

That’s a lot of focused smack-talk.  Almost makes you wonder if there isn’t some deliberate psychological warfare going on here.  Maybe the Vikings think they can rattle Rodgers.  Or maybe Williams and Allen are just bored with training camp and feel like running off at the mouth.
