More Vikings Cuts Keep Coming

The Vikings machete is out in full force right now making roster cuts. Here’s what we have so far on this 3rd day of September…

Stephen Burton, Wide Receiver
Vikes tried to get lucky on this 7th round pick who has a nice speed/size combo. But too many drops in camp sealed his fate.

Emmanuel Arceneaux, Wide Receiver
Apparently the adjustment to the NFL from Canada was too steep in the short amount of time Arceneaux had to work with. Sorry on my whiff predicting yesterday he’d make team. Barring unexpected move (which we’ve seen a lot of) we’re going with Percy Harvin, Bernard Berrian, Michael Jenkins, Devin Aromashodu and Greg Camarillo at WR.

Ross Homan, Linebacker
Homan was a decent linebacker at Ohio State that was all heart and okay physical tools, but a concussion set him back in preseason. This bodes well for Larry Dean.

Ryan D’Imperio, Fullback
The former Rutgers linebacker couldn’t stick at fullback. For the time being, the Vikings are without a fullback. This means that they’re either ditching the position to keep both Jeff Dugan and Jimmy Kleinsasser for occasional blocking use out of the backfield or waiting to see if another team makes a key cut.

Heath Farwell, Linebacker
America’s Favorite Punter Chris Kluwe broke the news on Farwell’s cut via Twitter. Farwell was a special teams ace, but the new kickoff rule hurt his value. Vikes also have to clear cap space if they want to claim other teams cuts and Farwell was set to make $1.7 million this year. Should we keep talking about Larry Dean playing linebacker?

About 10 more cuts to go for the Vikings to get to 53 players. Arceneaux, Burton and Homan have been told they’ll be signed onto practice squad if no other team claims them. Stay tuned.
