Leslie Frazier Will Stick With Donovan McNabb

You can pretty much forget about seeing Christian Ponder as the starter Sunday against Arizona. Despite another shaky effort from Donovan McNabb in the loss to Kansas City, Leslie Frazier says no QB change is imminent.

“We’re not in a situation — I don’t think — where we would make a quarterback change,” Frazier said during his post-game presser. “We’ll go back and look at this tape, look at every position and see what we can do to help every position play better than we played today.”

You want every position to play better Leslie? Then tell Cedric Griffin to stop backpedaling right into the receiver he’s supposed to be covering. Also tell Chad Greenway to stop being faked out of his jock by non-running quarterbacks like Matt Cassel. Also, inform Everson Griffen that face mask penalties are nothing to be celebrated.

The point I’m making is, though McNabb was still only average at best on Sunday, he was not the main culprit behind that loss. That loss is on the defense for showing no discipline and the offensive line for not pass blocking or run blocking worth a damn.

If the Vikings want to make changes, maybe they should start with the guys playing offensive tackle. It might also be time to put Cedric Griffin out to pasture and give Brandon Burton a look. Donovan McNabb? He’s been bad but he isn’t the only one. Of course he’s the QB so most people will focus on his struggles over those of the people around him.

Right now, the Vikings are simply a terrible team full of lousy players who can’t keep their head in the game. Playing Christian Ponder won’t fix that.
