Vikings Draft Targets: Sio Moore a Top 50 Pick?

We haven’t talked enough about UConn linebacker Sio Moore. Why haven’t we talked about him? Because he’s not Manti Te’o. It’s a fact that Te’o has sucked most of the air out of the room when it comes to linebacker prospects. And the Vikings have frankly fueled the Te’o talk. They have been flirting with Te’o like a desperate teenager looking for a prom date. All indications are that they love Te’o.

But what if they don’t love Te’o or what if Te’o is taken to the prom by someone else before they get a chance? The Vikes will still need to pick up a middle linebacker. They can’t go into the season with Audie Cole and Marvin Mitchell at the position. I don’t care what you think of Audie Cole.

There are lots of other names getting thrown out there besides Te’o. You’ve got your Alec Ogletree. You’ve got your Arthur Brown. You’ve got your Kevin Minter. And you have Sio Moore who is getting a little more buzz as we approach the draft. Tony Pauline said this about Moore’s chances of going in the top two rounds:

"I’m told teams love Moore not only for his measurables but also because he’s scheme diverse. Right now I’m told top 50 is a possibility and evidently the New York Jets are very high on Moore."

“Scheme diverse” is a term we always like to see. Is Moore a 4-3 MLB though? I guess that depends on how each team evaluates. He has speed and is able to play in space. If he can cover at all, the Vikings are probably interested. If Te’o ends up not being the guy? Don’t sleep on Moore. Or Minter or Ogletree or Brown. It’s up in the air at this point.
