Will Greg Childs ever contribute to the Vikings’ cause? Who knows. After last year’s training camp double knee blow-out his career is still very much up in the air. But Childs does seem very serious about coming back and he is fighting hard. And fans always seem curious to know where Childs is at in his rehab. Good news to report: he is coming along.
Per the ever-vigilant Tom Pelissero, Childs is back to running and has been doing some receiver drills as part of his on-going rehab process. But Childs says he is still not back to 100% physically. Childs also revealed how the doctors are trying to help his recovery. He said his surgeon did something special to “tighten and strengthen” his knees in hopes that this time they will hold together. Could a similar procedure be done on my brain? I could use some tightening and strengthening.
The question of course isn’t whether Childs can get back to running and doing football things, it’s whether he can do these things at an NFL level. We don’t know. We didn’t know if he could perform in the NFL even before the injury. Will we ever even get a chance to begin answering that question? Only God and Eric Sugarman know that. And those guys don’t give up their secrets easily.
