Letroy Guion Not Looking Good, Kevin Williams May Start at Nose Tackle

A change in position may have sparked a career renaissance for Kevin Williams. The long-time defensive tackle was forced to switch from his familiar three-tech spot to the nose last week because of injury, and all he did in the new role was collect 2 1/2 sacks, helping the Vikings slow down the Redskins offense on their way to a hard-fought victory.

K-Will looked like the K-Will of old, at least for one game. But would Leslie Frazier and Alan Williams continue rolling with Williams at the nose or would they predictably re-install the Letroy Guion/Fred Evans rotation once those guys got back from injury?

The Guion/Evans duo may still end up back at the nose full time, with Williams returning to three-tech, but that decision won’t be made for at least another week. Evans is ready to return from injury but Guion is still hurting and will most likely not suit up this Sunday against Seattle.

With Guion still on the shelf, the Vikings will look to shuffle things for one more week. This will probably mean some of Kevin Williams at the nose along with Evans and Everson Griffen. Going by the Redskins game, Williams really should get a lot of snaps at the nose with Sharrif Floyd seeing plenty of time at the three-tech.

We’ll see what the plan is for the Vikings against Seattle. The Purple are in for a stiff challenge against Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, Percy Harvin and the rest of that gang from the Pacific Northwest.
