Preview

The Vikings face a tough test in Seattle against the team currently favored to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Minnesota finally snapped their losing streak last week against Washington, and are now hoping to get on a roll. Christian Ponder played arguably the best game of his career last Thursday but had to leave with an injured shoulder. Ponder is expected to play against Seattle, with a harness on his injured arm.

Ponder and the Vikings will go up against a Seattle defense that is among the most fearsome in the NFL. If the Seahawks have a weakness it’s in their run defense, a potential Achilles heel the Vikes hope Adrian Peterson can exploit. The Vikings may have trouble passing it against a Seattle unit that is solid up front and in the back end.

Offensively, the Seahawks feature a power running game led by Marshawn Lynch, and have in Russell Wilson a true dual-threat quarterback. The Vikes need to contain Wilson, who does some of his best work while scrambling. Golden Tate is the #1 receiving weapon for Wilson. The Seahawks also figure to have back Percy Harvin, though in a limited role.

The Harvin storyline adds an extra level of intrigue to a game that on paper looks like a laugher in the making. Can Christian Ponder get it done against that big-time Seattle pass defense? Can the Vikings rein in Russel Wilson and that Seattle offense? What role will Percy Harvin play against his old team?

Prediction: Seattle 31, Minnesota 10
