Preview
Minnesota returned to their losing ways last week, getting trounced by the Seahawks 41-20. The Vikings now limp into Green Bay to face a Packers team that is itself in dire straits, having lost their last three to fall to 5-5. The Packers are in serious jeopardy of falling out of the playoff race, making this a virtual must-win for the boys in green and gold.
The Packers will once again take the field without their leader Aaron Rodgers, who is at least a week away from returning. Scott Tolzien has been passable in a backup role, but now he is facing true pressure with the Packers’ season on the line. The Vikings will go with Christian Ponder, who found himself riding the pines for the fourth quarter against Seattle after a pair of brutal picks, one of which was returned for a TD.
The Vikings will once again be short handed on defense, with Erin Henderson out for personal reasons and Brian Robison possibly out with a strained neck. Offensively, they should have Greg Jennings back from an Achilles problem. Adrian Peterson has been nursing a bad groin but is expected to play.
The Vikings’ defense was shredded by Seattle, and could face more of the same against a balanced Packer offense featuring running back Eddie Lacy. The Packers’ pass protection has been good this season, so the Vikings may have trouble working up a pass rush. Green Bay’s defense has been bad lately, but can Christian Ponder play well enough to exploit their weaknesses? Can Adrian Peterson crank it up like he did against Green Bay last season?
The Vikings have a real shot here to pull off the upset and deal a potentially crippling blow to the Packers’ playoff hopes.

Vikings 24, Packers 21
