A veritable former-Vikings-head-coach reunion could be about to take place in Tampa Bay. Lovie Smith is set to become coach of the Buccaneers and he is expected to bring with him both Leslie Frazier and, as we’re hearing now, one-time Vikings coach Mike Tice.

Frazier would be hired as defensive coordinator in Tampa (though nothing is official as yet). Tice of course was on Lovie’s staff in Chicago as offensive line coach and then offensive coordinator. Jeff Tedford is expected to get the OC job in Tampa, so Tice would presumably become O-line coach again or possibly tight ends coach.

Or maybe he will just get Lovie his coffee.

As far as we know, Dennis Green is not as yet being considered for a role in Tampa Bay. Neither are Les Steckel or Jerry Burns. Or Bud Grant. Or Norm Van Brocklin. Or that other guy, what was his name? Bald guy? Liked fullbacks? Had a thing for Tarvaris Jackson?

It will be interesting to see how Lovie, Frazier, Tice and the gang fare in Tampa Bay. It just so happens that the Vikings play in Tampa in 2014, so we won’t have to wait long.
