A rapprochement will inevitably come between Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers, everyone is convinced of this. The timing of the reconciliation is the only thing that really remains up in the air.

Packers president Mark Murphy sounds like he wants the big Favre Lambeau Field return to happen as soon as possible. In fact, Murphy revealed on Tuesday that he tried to make it happen last year but the big day could never be arranged.

Murphy made his revelation after being asked by reporters for a status update on Operation: Bring Back Brett.

“It’s kind of the same. There’s not a lot to report,” Murphy said per ESPN Wisconsin. “We do have ongoing communications with him and I think relations are good. We’re hopeful to have him come back soon.

“We wanted to have him come back to a game last year, [but] his team kept winning and winning, so it kind of made of made it tough to find a time where it worked.”

Favre’s team, the Oak Grove High School squad he works with as offensive coordinator, went on a post season run last year, and Favre’s commitment to the kids kept him from making the trip to Lambeau Field.

Going by Murphy’s statements, it seems that 2014 could be the year for Favre’s return to Lambeau. I’d say it’s about time Packer fans let go of their silly, misplaced animosity toward Favre and welcomed him back into the fold.

Only question I have? Does Brett shave for the reunion or does he go fully bearded? This is very important.
