Jay Glazer: Vikings “Got The Right Guy” in Mike Zimmer
By Adam Carlson
Minnesota Vikings fans all over are excited about the idea of new head coach Mike Zimmer coming in and working on the atrocious defense. Last year, the Vikings rated as the worst team in the NFL when it came to passing touchdowns allowed and total first downs given up. This year, Mike Zimmer comes in and looks to improve this unit the way he did when he was the defensive coordinator in Cincinnati with the Bengals.

But it looks like a lot more than just Vikings fans are excited. On Saturday, July 26th, Fox Sports writer and NFL insider Jay Glazer attended Minnesota Vikings training camp. He was there to work on establishing relationships with players and team personnel, but also to check in on rookie Anthony Barr. Barr is one of Jay Glazier’s students and friends from UFC style training to prepare for football.
Vikings.com’s Mike Wobschall caught up with Jay Glazer, who praised new head coach Mike Zimmer in a big way. Here’s what he had to say about the new head coach in Minnesota in a video on Vikings.com:
"“I don’t know what’s going on at the quarterback position yet, but you guys have the right guy at head coach, I’ll tell you that. This guy should have been a head coach 10 years ago. Only reason he wasn’t is because he didn’t know how to play the game. He is as straight and real as you get. When you go in for these interviews, a lot of times they like you to, you know, kind of polish it up and that’s not him. That’s not what he does.”"
Only time will tell if Jay Glazer and the Minnesota Vikings are right about the hire of Mike Zimmer. However, with his attitude and history of success, it’s hard not to get excited about the idea of him turning things around for this franchise.
