Vikings Get Special Teams Coach Mike Priefer Back Today

After that ugly game of football against the New England Patriots this week, it’s hard to look at this team and find a lot of positives. However, Minnesota Vikings Special Teams coach Mike Priefer is set to make his return to the team today after a suspension from the team that lasted for the first two game of the year.

Here is the official team announcement from an article on the website of CBS Sports:

"“The decision by Vikings ownership follows extensive conversations with the independent professional consultants retained to conduct individualized anti-harassment, diversity and sexual orientation training with Coach Priefer. Those consultants have conveyed to the team that Coach Priefer was fully and thoughtfully engaged throughout the process and successfully completed the program.”"

With this news, hopefully the drama surrounding this situation can come to a close.  For those of you who don’t know (or somehow don’t remember) why this suspension took place, read THIS link.  Currently, this football team is dealing with several touchy situations and it will be nice to put this part of the team’s history behind them.

In his place, coach Joe Marciano did a good job filling in.  However, there is nothing like having that continuity in the coaching staff and bringing that unit back to full strength.  Hopefully Mike Priefer has learned from his mistakes and will take a better approach to coaching this professional football team.
