Green Bay Packers  7-3

The Green Bay Packers hosted the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in a game that the Packers needed to win in order to close the gap between them and the NFC North leading Detroit Lions.  And Green Bay did just that, beating Philadelphia in a convincing fashion 53-20.  Philadelphia didn’t really have much of a chance since the Packers dominated every phase of the game.  As a matter of fact, the boys from Green Bay found themselves scoring on offense, defense, and special teams.

Mark Sanchez (yes, the Buttfumble guy) was the quarterback for the Eagles.  Although he threw for 346 passing yards, he also lost two fumbles and added two interceptions.  One of those picks was returned for a touchdown by Julius Peppers and one of the fumbles also found paydirt when Casey Hayward scooped it up.  Even punt returner Micah Hyde got in on the action, bringing one back to the house.

That’s not to undersell what Aaron Rodgers did in this game.  He threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns in the game with no interceptions.  Rodgers also added 32 rushing yards in the game.  He had two of his wide receivers go over 100 yards, with Jordy Nelson gaining 109 yards and Randall Cobb picking up 129 yards.

Green Bay is a scary team that is scoring points in bunches recently.  In the last two weeks, the Packers have scored 108 points.  That includes pulling Aaron Rodgers out of both games and plugging in backup Matt Flynn.

Next week, the Green Bay Packers will head to Minnesota to take on the struggling Vikings.
