The Vikings worked out Cris Carter’s wide receiver progeny Duron Carter last Friday, and reports said the tryout went well. In fact, the Vikings liked Carter’s work so much that the team has reportedly made an offer to the former CFL star.

Now we wait to see what decision Carter makes. Duron has said the Vikings are his first choice, but that doesn’t mean he is certain to wind up in purple. The Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts are also reportedly high on Carter and are both ready to make their own offers.

The Browns also have worked out Carter but there’s no word on whether they’ve made an offer. Speculation is that Carter could get a three-year contract with up to a $100,000 signing bonus.

The 23-year-old Carter caught 75 passes with with Montreal Alouettes last year for 1030 yards and 7 TDs, for whatever CFL stats are worth.

Few question that Carter has the talent to play in the NFL, but there are concerns about his being strong enough to match up against physical corners. Questions about his attitude were not entirely dispelled by his two-year stint in the CFL.

Carter himself sounds excited about the prospect of becoming a Viking (via ESPN.com):

"“It felt like being back home,” Duron Carter said. “I used to run around that facility when I was little. It still hasn’t changed — I remember some of the cooking people, I still remember where everything is. When I was in for the rookie minicamp, it felt really overwhelming. But this was completely different from the minicamp, from the standpoint of them wanting me and pursuing me. It felt a lot better.”"
