The offensive line of course is another area of great concern for Minnesota. Beyond the five starters, Joe Berger is the only player with a firmly established role. What do the Vikings do behind their top six linemen?

The main issue for Minnesota here is the lack of a true swing tackle. The Vikings have tried multiple players at both tackle positions this preseason hoping to find someone who clicks. And nobody has clicked.

David Yankey, Tyrus Thompson and Austin Shepherd have all been in the mix and none of them have been especially impressive. Of those three, Thompson seems the best candidate to be cut. Yankey probably shouldn’t feel too safe either.

The swing tackle situation is serious enough that the Vikings might look to pick up someone in free agency. The Vikings did sign veteran Stephen Goodin a few weeks back but he wasn’t even good enough to survive first cuts.
