September 14, 2015; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh (3) kicks a field goal out of the hold by punter Jeff Locke (18) during the fourth quarter against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi

3. Blair Walsh still shaky

Blair Walsh was 1-for-2 on field goals but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

The miss was a bad miss from only 44 yards, hardly a daunting distance. And the make was a shaky make from just 37 yards out.

Has Mike Zimmer lost confidence in Blair Walsh? Well the Vikings did have a 4th-and-3 situation from the San Francisco 31 in the second quarter where they elected to go for it rather than march Walsh out there.

So yeah, I guess it’s safe to say Zimmer has lost some confidence in Walsh.

If the offense continues to struggle like it did last night, the Walsh thing could become a huge factor.

Normally you would bring in a kicker for competition but of course that’s not an option for the Vikings who just gave Walsh a new contract extension.

And we say it again: This is why you don’t draft kickers. The Vikings are stuck with this guy until he figures it out. Assuming he ever figures it out.
