Unpleasant Surprise Award

Kyle Rudolph

This is a very important season for Kyle Rudolph. Not only is it important for him to stay healthy, but he also needs to prove that he can serve as a reliable receiver and blocker for this team. MyCole Pruitt has a lot of potential, and he’s just waiting for his chance.

His chance might come sooner than later.

Rudolph has been average as a receiver, catching 14 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown through four games while being targeted 22 times. His 22 targets prove that he is being given opportunities from Norv Turner. My issue with Rudolph is his blocking, both in pass protection and run blocking. He has struggled this season, to say the least. If I had any say, I’d be increasing Pruitt’s snaps not just because he might perform a little better, but also to light a fire under Rudolph.
