Vikings WR Stefon Diggs nominated for Pepsi Rookie of the Week

The Minnesota Vikings were victorious on Sunday against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, but one player from the game is being recognized for his performance.

Wide receiver Stefon Diggs continued his hot streak on November 1, 2015.  The 5th round draft pick was targeted 12 times by Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, with Diggs hauling in 6 of those passes for 95 yards and a touchdown.  Diggs was targeted 9 more time in the game than any other Vikings pass catcher, showing that he is Bridgewater’s go-to guy.

Because of that performance, Diggs has been nominated for Pepsi Rookie of the Week.

However, it will not be an easy contest for Stefon Diggs to win.  He faces some stiff competition for the prized award from some of the NFL’s most talented rookies.  Here are the five players who are up for the honor:

Kwon Alexander, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 11 tackles, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery

  • Stefon Diggs, Minnesota Vikings – 6 catches, 95 receiving yards, 1 touchdown
  • Todd Gurley, St. Louis Rams – 133 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 3 catches, 13 receiving yards
  • Kevin Johnson, Houston Texans – 6 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 interception
  • Damarious Randall, Green Bay Packers – 7 tackles, 1 interception
