1. Marcus Sherels

Is it possible that Marcus Sherels is the best punt returner in Vikings history?

Sherels has the best yards-per-return average in team history at 10.6. He also has the most punt return TDs (3) after bringing one back all the way against the Bears.

It’s true that Sherels has made some mistakes in the past in fielding punts that he shouldn’t have fielded but so far this year that hasn’t been a problem.

Old-timers may favor Leo Lewis or David Palmer but Sherels has to be in the conversation for best all-time Vikings punt returner.

But it’s not just what Sherels does in the return game that makes him special, it’s his work as a gunner. Sherels is without question the Vikings’ best punt coverage guy.

I would love to see Sherels make the Pro Bowl as a special teamer or as a punt returner.

Whatever you ask this guy to do, he does it. And there are still people saying he should be cut. Don’t they pay attention?
