The Minnesota Vikings have recognized cornerback Terence Newman by awarding him with the Bridgestone Performance of the Week for week 10 against Oakland.

The Oakland Raiders hosted the Minnesota Vikings for their week 10 contest on Sunday.  It was a hard-fought game that found Minnesota victorious in the end by a final score of 30-14.

Although there were many great efforts by several players on the team, including Adrian Peterson rushing for over 200 yards and Linval Joseph eating up the offensive line, the Vikings had no choice by to award a 37 year old cornerback with the Bridgestone Performance of the Week.

Newman came up big for the Minnesota Vikings, breaking up two passes in a row on a drive by the Oakland Raiders in the 4th quarter as they attempted to make a comeback.  But it wasn’t just those pass defenses that earned him the award, as he also had a couple big interceptions and even disrupted the backfield at times.

Here were Terence Newman’s stats for the game according to ESPN.com:

  • 5 passes defended
  • 4 total tackles
  • 2 solo tackles
  • 2 interceptions
  • 1 tackle for a loss

Congratulations go out to Terence Newman on winning this award and, of course, the Minnesota Vikings for winning their fifth straight game in a row.  This also makes 3 straight wins on the road for the Vikings, a place where the team has struggled immensely in the past.

The Minnesota Vikings will face another tough challenge next week, as the team prepares to take on the Green Bay Packers on November 22, 2015.  Check your local listings for time and availability.
