By Adam Carlson
The Minnesota Vikings beat the Oakland Raiders during week 10 of the NFL season, with cornerback Terence Newman earning Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Coming into the game as underdogs, the Minnesota Vikings took care of business against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, defeating them in the “Black Hole” by a score of 30-14.
With many great performances in that game, it’s difficult to recognize any one individual. However, 37-year-old cornerback Terence Newman had such a strong showing that he was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week from the NFL for week 10 according to Vikings.com.
Newman picked off two passes in the contest, adding five pass breakups and four tackles in the game, with two of those pass defenses coming near the end of the game when the Oakland Raiders were trying to make a comeback. It was a dominating performance that also earned him the Bridgestone Performance of the Week from the Minnesota Vikings.

This isn’t Terence Newman’s first time winning the Defensive Player of the Week award. He was given the honor on December 14, 2003 for a three interception effort against the Washington Redskins during his rookie year with the Dallas Cowboys.
Congratulations go out to Terence Newman and the Minnesota Vikings for their great showing against the Raiders.
You can see Newman and the rest of the team when they take on division rivals the Green Bay Packers on November 22, 2015. Be sure to check your local listings for time and availability.
