4. October 5, 1998

1998 was one of the most epic seasons in Vikings history.

Both the Packers and Vikings got off to big starts that year, each team winning their first four games and setting up a huge match-up on Monday Night Football week 5 at Lambeau Field.

The two teams started the game trading field goals, then in the second quarter the Vikings’ big-play offense struck when Randall Cunningham hit Jake Reed for a 56-yard TD.

The Packers answered right back when Roell Preston housed the ensuing kickoff from 101 yards, tying the game at ten.

Then the Vikings really went nuts. Cunningham hit Randy Moss for a 52-yard TD (video above), then added a 24-yard TD to Robert Smith before the half.

The Vikings built the lead all the way up to 37-10 on a pair of Gary Anderson field goals followed by a Randy Moss 44-yard TD catch from Cunningham. And that was all she wrote.

Moss finished the game with 190 yards on five receptions with two touchdowns. His first of many big games against the Packers.
