The Bad
- Mike Wallace trying to catch passes. I’m getting pretty tired of watching Wallace drop easy catches. He’s paid way too much and is too established of a player to be making mistakes like that to hurt the team. The more I see of him as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, the less I like.
- The Matt Kalil enigma. Kalil got flagged for holding twice during the first quarter. He also spent much of the week not practicing. If there’s a physical problem that is causing him to lose confidence in his blocking ability, then he shouldn’t be on the field. However, it is possible that he’s just getting beat by the young Packers pass rushers and responding poorly.
- You can’t miss extra points. I know they’re not automatic anymore, but they’re still not as hard for a professional as Blair Walsh is making them look. I know he just got a big contract and we’re supposed to be patient while he works through his slump, but every single miss makes things harder to accept.
- The penalties. THE PENALTIES! I know, I wrote it twice. That was no accident. This was one of the sloppiest game I’ve ever seen the Minnesota Vikings play. For a team as well coached and as disciplined as they have been in the past, this type of game cannot happen.
- Not being able to stop Eddie Lacy. Lately, the Vikings haven’t let a running back have a major day against them. Instead, the Packers pounded Lacy right up into Minnesota defense 22 times for 100 yards. For a guy that many people were writing off, he made a big impact on the game.
