The Minnesota Vikings have nominated linebacker Chad Greenway to represent the team to compete for the 2015 Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
For the third time in five years, the Minnesota Vikings have decided to honor veteran linebacker Chad Greenway’s contributions on and off the football field. The team has decided to name him their representative for the 2015 Walter Payton Man of the Year award according to an article on the TwinCities.com Pioneer Press website.
Being nominated by the team is already a great reward. Each of the representatives for the 32 teams receives $5,000 for a charity of their choice. When the finalists are decided, the winner of the award getting an additional $50,000 and the runners-up will get $6,000.

The winner will be announced at the NFL Awards Show in San Francisco on February 6, 2016, one day before the NFL’s two best teams play in the Super Bowl.
Chad Greenway is no stranger to this award, as he was also nominated in 2011 and 2014. His commitment to charity included the Lead The Way Foundation, which established Chad’s Lockers, Field of Dreams and TendHER Heart Luncheon events. This year, he also helped to donate a van to the parents of a disabled child who couldn’t afford to buy one of their own.
