20. Ed McDaniel

Whenever Ed McDaniel was referred to by the media back in the day, it was always as “The Underrated Ed McDaniel.”

The underrating started early when the Clemson linebacker lasted all the way to the fifth round of the 1992 draft.

The Vikings took McDaniel with the 125th overall pick in that draft and though it would take him a couple years to get his footing, he would develop into a stalwart.

For seven years from 1994 to 2001, Ed was one of the steadiest and most consistent linebackers in the NFL.

McDaniel made just one Pro Bowl, in 1998, but probably should have made at least a couple more.

Even now, people tend to overlook McDaniel when discussing the top defensive players in Vikings history. This is a mistake.

The Vikes got a steal when they drafted McDaniel in the fifth.
