Not many offensive linemen can say they were track stars in high school like Randall McDaniel was.
That outstanding athleticism served McDaniel well at Arizona State and helped him become the 19th overall pick in the 1988 draft.
After being drafted by the Vikings, McDaniel developed into one of the greatest offensive guards in NFL history.
McDaniel made the Pro Bowl 11 times with Minnesota, and was named All-Pro an astounding nine years in a row from 1990 to 1998.
Much of McDaniel’s great success can be attributed to his unorthodox stance which he claims he developed as a means of compensating for a knee injury.
Over thirteen full seasons in the NFL, McDaniel started 220 out of 222 games. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
