Vikings K Blair Walsh wins week 16 NFC Special Teams award
By Adam Carlson
Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh won the NFC Special Teams player of the Week award for week 16 of the 2015 NFL season for his game against the Giants.
When the Minnesota Vikings hosted the New York Giants, the team exploded for 49 points in a lopsided victory. Bridgewater threw in one touchdown with three additional scores coming on the ground and one defensive score. However, many of the points scored in this game came off the foot of kicker Blair Walsh.
While other kickers had good days, Walsh was a field goal kicking machine. He connected on every single attempt, including 2 from over fifty yards away. His lone miss came on an extra point attempt. Thanks to those efforts, Walsh was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for week 16 according to Vikings.com.

Here are his statistics from the game:
- 19 points scored
- 5/5 on field goals
- 2/2 on kicks over 50 yards
- 4/5 on extra point tries
This is the fifth time Blair Walsh has won the award in his NFL career and he became the second Vikings player to win the award this season (Marcus Sherels, week 8). This accomplishment is even more impressive when you consider that the game at TCF Bank Stadium was played in below freezing temperatures in an outdoor stadium.
Congratulations to Blair Walsh on his award and all the members of the Minnesota Vikings on their amazing game against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. You can see the Vikings return to Sunday Night Football to take on the Green Bay Packers in a week 17 game that will decide the winner of the NFC North.
