Overall Impressions

Overall, this wasn’t a beautiful game to watch. The passing game was nearly non-existent with Adrian Peterson being unable to really get rolling on the ground. Even though the offense was disgustingly inept, the team’s defense did a wonderful job keeping the Packers from scoring enough points to put the game out of reach.

A win is a win. Even though the Minnesota Vikings have to be disappointed with several of the things from this game, winning the NFC North championship and earning the right to host a playoff game during the Wild Card round of the postseason are great things. However, like Mike Zimmer said in the locker room following the game, “There are much bigger prizes out there.”

Because of this the Minnesota Vikings will host the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. It might not seem like much of a prize considering the beat down that Seattle gave the Vikings in week 13 of the regular season. However, they will be able to prepare for their Sunday game at noon on NBC and have their “home” field of TCF Bank Stadium to protect.

Congratulations to Adrian Peterson on the rushing record and all of the Minnesota Vikings on beating the Packers to win the division and show that they’re a young team on the rise. We’ll see how this team can adjust their game plan when they take on Seattle next week.
