Former Minnesota Vikings head coach and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier has been hired by the Ravens after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It’s been a while since Leslie Frazier has been mentioned by most Minnesota Vikings fans. However, the NFL coach played a big role with the team from 2007 to 2013, with jobs ranging from defensive coordinator to head coach.

His overall record as a head coach was 21-32-1 (39.8%) Frazier’s time with the Vikings came to an end on December 30, 2013 following a season where Minnesota won just 5 football games. The team decided to find a new head coach for the 2014 season, and decided on Mike Zimmer.

Unable to find another head coaching gig, Frazier joined Lovie Smith in Tampa Bay as their defensive coordinator, but that didn’t last too long either. On January 7, 2016, the Buccaneers made the decision not to renew his contract after a 5 win season and he was left looking for work again.

Again, Leslie Frazier’s time on the open market didn’t last long. However, this time he took another demotion to keep his job. The position that he has filled is the defensive backs coach for the Baltimore Ravens according to ESPN.com.

Baltimore has a decent pass defense already, with the team ending the 2015 season ranked 10th passing yards allowed per game (233.6) and 22nd in passing touchdowns allowed (30). Frazier will also have some talented players to work with in the secondary there, with Will Hill, Kyle Arrington, Lardarius Webb, Jimmy Smith and others at his disposal.

Best of luck to Leslie Frazier with the Baltimore Ravens. Although things didn’t work out in Minnesota or Tampa Bay, there his hope that he can find a home in Baltimore and help turn the Ravens into a better team by improving their secondary.

Plus, it’s kind of nice that he can go back to wearing purple.
