3 players from the Minnesota Vikings were named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team: Stefon Diggs, Eric Kendricks, and Danielle Hunter.

The Minnesota Vikings have been getting a lot of praise for their 2015 NFL Draft class recently. A surprising number of the players selected have gone on to have major roles with the team while others have shown some promise for the future. However, the contributions of these youngsters seems to be getting noticed by the national media as well as Vikings fans and coaches.

It was recently announced that three Vikings rookies have been named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team. This is a big honor, as only the best rookies get to fill out the spots on this team and for Minnesota to have three representatives shows just how special this draft class was.

Eric Kendricks, linebacker – After falling to the second round of the draft, Kendricks found a home with the Vikings. Many draft analysts worried about his size, making him fall on many team’s big boards. When the Vikings scooped him up, they knew they had a talented player, but didn’t expect him to take over the middle linebacker role as a rookie and play at a very high level.

  • Danielle Hunter, defensive end – As a third round draft pick, there were quite a few draftniks who were scratching their heads at the Vikings picking a raw player like Hunter so early. However, Minnesota made them look foolish as Hunter has become a reliable part of defensive rotation that even had the Green Bay Packers head coach calling him out by name as a concern.
  • Stefon Diggs, wide receiver – Diggs was inactive for much of the beginning of the season, but after an injury to Charles Johnson, he exploded onto the scene. He led the team in receiving and was second among all rookies in receiving yards (720). The youngster also led the team in receptions (52) and topped all Vikings wide receivers with 4 receiving touchdowns.
  • Congratulations to Eric Kendricks, Danielle Hunter, Stefon Diggs, and the Minnesota Vikings on fantastic 2015 NFL seasons. With other rookies like Trae Waynes and MyCole Pruitt looking to make a bigger impact in the 2016 NFL season, this rookie class could be one of the deepest in the team’s history, making the future look bring for Vikings fans around the world.
