Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Year for his NFL leading rushing performance during the 2015 season.

The Minnesota Vikings had a successful 2015 NFL season. Not only did they earn a playoff spot and win their division, but the young players got some experience under their belts. However, one veteran member of the Minnesota Vikings took 2015 to do something he’s done on two other occasions: lead the NFL in rushing yards.

Adrian Peterson is a freak of nature. Watching him change directions on the fly and accelerate quickly after finding space is a thing of beauty. He took advantage of defenses last season with his blend of power and speed that no other player in the league can seem to match.

He was able to help the Minnesota Vikings capture their first NFC North championship since Brett Favre was at the helm and lead the league in rushing yards, two things that helped Peterson win the FedEx Ground Player of the Year award .

Here is the post from Minnesota Vikings Twitter congratulating the running back:

Adrian Peterson’s 1,485 rushing yards from scrimmage was good for first in the NFL and his 11 rushing touchdowns tied him for first place with Atlanta’s Devonta Freeman. However, the Minnesota Vikings star running back did have some struggles. He averaged only 4.54 yards per carry (27th in the NFL among running backs) and fumbled the ball 7 times (2nd most in the league among running backs). But the star running back vows to work on ball security and pass blocking this offseason to come back and be an even bigger asset to the Vikings next year.

Entering his 10th NFL season in 2016, Peterson will be turning 31 years old in March. However, with Adrian leading the league in rushing yards and showing that he can still be an effective running back, there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight to his time with the Minnesota Vikings.
