The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly brought back defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis on a one-year deal.
With the beginning of free agency looming just a few days away, the Minnesota Vikings have begun the process of locking up their own players.
USA Today‘s Tom Pelissero reports that Minnesota has brought back defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis on a one-year deal.
Earlier today, Ian Rapoport reported that the Vikings have signed safety Andrew Sendejo to a new contract worth $16 million over four years.
Pioneer-Press reporter Chris Tomasson said a few days ago that the Vikings have offered free agent right guard Michael Harris a two-year deal worth $3.5 million. Harris is expected to make a decision on whether to accept the deal in the next couple of days.
Free agent running back Matt Asiata and free agent safety Robert Blanton have both expressed an interest in returning to Minnesota.
The 28-year-old Kenrick Ellis joined the Vikings in the middle of last season to provide depth at defensive tackle after Shamar Stephen was lost to injury.
Ellis played in nine games for the Vikings, finishing with five tackles.
Next: Andrew Sendejo signed to new deal
With Ellis signed, the Vikings are fully-loaded on the defensive line. Their seven-deep rotation also will feature Brian Robison, Danielle Hunter, Linval Joseph, Sharrif Floyd, Tom Johnson and Everson Griffen. Shamar Stephen should also be in the mix somewhere.
Free agency begins on Wednesday and we’ll see if the Vikings decide to be players. Their biggest need looks to be at left guard.
