Justin Trattou announced via Instagram that he has signed on for another year with the Minnesota Vikings.

Interception machine Justin Trattou will return to the Vikings for the 2016 season, he announced via Twitter and Instagram.

Think Justin Trattou is happy to be back with the Vikings?

Looks like a happy guy to me!

Though Trattou played in only five games in 2015 and was on the field for just 23 defensive snaps total, he heroically finished second on the team with two interceptions.

Imagine how many balls Trattou could pick off if he played in all 16 games.

Trattou suffered an ankle sprain in the Vikings’ week 3 game against San Diego and did not see the field again until week 15 against Chicago. The Vikings could have elected to place Trattou on IR at some point during that long stretch where he was hurt, but decided to keep him available in the event he was able to return.

The Vikings’ reluctance to end Trattou’s season by putting him on IR gave some indication of what they thought of him. It should be no surprise then that they brought him back.

Trattou brings value on special teams, but he also showed a certain skill at dropping in coverage from the defensive end position, as evidenced by his pair of picks.

The Vikings in recent days have solidified their defensive line depth by not only re-signing Trattou but also bringing back DT Kenrick Ellis.
