The Minnesota Vikings and the rest of the NFL finally got to see Laquon Treadwell post a 40 time.

How fast is Laquon Treadwell? We’ve been waiting awhile to find out the answer to that particular question. Today at Ole Miss pro day, Treadwell finally provided the response.

The answer is: He’s as fast as everyone thought he was.

4.65 is not elite speed for a wide receiver. But Treadwell has never been viewed as a burner.

If you want to see elite speed, check out Baylor WR Corey Coleman. As they say, you can’t coach speed.

When it comes to wide receivers, how much value should be placed on pure speed? Every team has a different opinion on that.

The Vikings last year made a trade to acquire Mike Wallace, a receiver known mostly as a speed-burner. Wallace produced 473 yards and two touchdowns while being paid $9.9 million.

Wallace is now gone, but indications are that the Vikings tried hard to re-sign him before he left.

If there’s one receiver in the current crop who resembles Mike Wallace, it’s Corey Coleman. Not saying, just saying.

Laquon Treadwell may himself not be the fastest of receivers, but he does have other notable traits. He’s big (6-2, 221) and he’s long and he has good ball-skills. Some scouts question his ability to defeat press coverage.

Next: Greenway still talking to Vikings

TCU receiver Josh Docston (6-2, 202) is himself not a burner, at least going by the 40-time he posted at the combine, but scouts are in love with his leaping ability and body control.

Michael Thomas of Ohio State (6-3, 212) is not considered to be a great athlete, but some scouts like his upside.

When it comes to this year’s crop of receivers, there’s a little something for everyone. It all depends on what particular traits you value most.
