Minnesota Vikings: Five potential late-round receiver targets
By Dan Zinski
Chris Brown – Notre Dame
Brown has good size at 6-2, 194 and has the athleticism you would expect from a guy who was a track star before playing football. Despite his track background however, Brown’s game seems to lack the explosive dimension you would expect. Where Brown impresses is in his route-running and ability to make tough catches. One word that gets thrown around with him is “consistency.” Brown is detail-oriented and works at all aspects of his game. He may lack strength but he’s willing to stick his nose in and block. Scouts are concerned about his occasional drops and wonder if he maybe lacks hand strength.
To me, Brown has all the earmarks of a player with a little bit of untapped upside that could potentially be exploited at the next level. If he had a chance to work on the practice squad for a year and work in the weight room, he might turn out to be a player down the road. For some reason I get a Charles Johnson vibe when I read the scouting reports on Brown. He seems like a decent athlete who is willing to work hard. He might be worth a late-round pick.
