Cody Core – Ole Miss

Laquon Treadwell gets all the pub but his WR running mate at Ole Miss could be a draftable prospect as well. Cody Core is a very big receiver (6-3, 205) who possesses pretty nice speed (he ran a 4.47 40 at the combine) and good leaping ability. Before becoming a receiver at Ole Miss, Core played some defensive back and also was a great tackler on special teams. Scouts also like Core’s blocking ability.

Now the negatives: Core is inexperienced as a receiver, having played the position for only a short time at Ole Miss. Though Core has nice speed, his acceleration isn’t great and his ability to make plays in space is not particularly impressive. Core also does not have the best hands in the world, though he has shown some ability to go up and win contested catches. We’re talking here about a good athlete who has experience at multiple positions who could be brought in as a seventh-round pick or UDFA and given a chance to develop. Core’s special teams ability is obviously a big selling point for him.
