Laquon Treadwell is garnering interest from the New York Giants, who hold the no. 10 overall pick in this year’s draft.

The Vikings no longer have to worry about the L.A. Rams taking Laquon Treadwell eight picks ahead of them at #15, but now maybe they need to worry about the New York Giants plucking Treadwell thirteen picks ahead of them at #10.

Or maybe the Vikings don’t even like Treadwell that much and don’t care where he gets drafted? Impossible to say. Anyway, Ian Rapoport said this about the Giants’ interest in Treadwell.

Treadwell’s relatively slow 40 time convinced many that he was out of the picture as a potential top-10 pick and might slide all the way into the 20s, while other have maintained that Treadwell’s lack of elite speed was never an issue that impacted where he would go in the draft.

If the Giants do in fact take Treadwell at #10, we’ll know his 40 time wasn’t an issue.

Outside of New York, the only other teams really being mentioned as potential landing spots for Treadwell in the top 20 are the Saints at #12 and the Lions at #16. But most mocks have the Saints and Lions targeting defense instead of a receiver.

The Houston Texans at #22 are the one team that is seen as firmly targeting a wide receiver in this draft. The Minnesota Vikings at #23 will have to pick from whatever is left if one or more of the above-mentioned teams decide to take a wide-out ahead of them.

Maybe it was never realistic that Treadwell would make it all the way to the Vikings at #23. Then again, you could argue that Treadwell isn’t even the most intriguing receiver prospect in this draft. Plenty of scouts will point to Josh Doctson as being a better athlete and having more upside. Corey Coleman of Baylor and Will Fuller of Notre Dame are both faster than Treadwell (and Docston, for that matter).

If you want a really dissenting opinion on Treadwell, PFF’s Sam Monson is happy to provide it. He basically has labeled Treadwell as an overrated prospect.

Next: Myles Jack won't fall to Vikings

But don’t worry Laquon Treadwell fans, there are still some mock drafters out there willing to send him to the Vikings. Dane Brugler mocked the entire draft and has the Vikes snagging Treadwell after the Texans go with Fuller.

That’s what I love about this time of year. Every time you get a little down, just look around and you’ll find a mock that gives you what you want.

By the way, Odell Beckham and Laquon Treadwell on the Giants? Might be interesting.
