Laquon Treadwell is seeking employment as an NFL wide receiver, and posted a cover letter on The Players Tribune.
The Players Tribune has become an outlet for athletes to get their stories out to the fans without having to go through the regular media. On Tuesday, Ole Miss wide receiver (and possible future Viking) Laquon Treadwell told his story in the form of a cover letter addressed to prospective future employers.
Among the many interesting bits of personal information in the cover letter is this revelation about Treadwell’s experience with TV.
Via The Players Tribune:
"I didn’t watch TV as a kid, and to this day I still don’t. So the first time I really saw NFL players wasn’t on my television. It was on the field in the SEC."
Treadwell reveals that when he was a kid living in University Park, IL south of Chicago, he and his friends didn’t have TV or video games so they spent all their time outside playing football.
He talks about the time a kid from a nearby more-affluent neighborhood invited him and his friends to join their organized football team, and how that experience stoked his passion for the game.
Treadwell says that for him it’s not just about playing football, it’s about winning. He developed this attitude, he says, while winning championships in high school and playing big-time college football at Ole Miss.
And now Treadwell says he just wants to get to the NFL, work hard and keep on winning.
One thing we know about Laquon Treadwell: He won’t get distracted by television. He’s not going to put off studying his playbook because Game of Thrones is on. He’s not going to skip working out because he has to get home and catch up on Real Housewives.

In all seriousness, Treadwell’s story is pretty interesting and he certainly sounds like a young man who has all his priorities in order.
Will Treadwell be available for the Vikings with the #23 overall pick? We’ll just have to see.
