Mike Mayock released his first and only 2016 NFL mock draft on NFL.com today, and he has the Minnesota Vikings looking at a wide receiver in the first round.

For some draft experts, it seems like quantity instead of quality is the approach to mock drafts. However, NFL.com’s Mike Mayock is an NFL Media draft analyst who releases only one mock draft leading up to Thursday’s first round action at the 2016 NFL Draft.

Mike Mayock’s draft isn’t groundbreaking. There aren’t major surprises other than UCLA linebacker Myles Jack falling all the way to the #14 overall spot to the Oakland Raiders. However, there are a lot of smart picks and positions of need being filled in this mock draft and there is no exception to that when it comes to the player he chose for the Vikings at #23 overall in the first round.

Here is what Mayock predicts for the Minnesota Vikings in his first and only 2016 NFL mock draft:

"Pick 23: Laquon Treadwell – wide receiver, Mississippi“His lack of straight-line speed might turn off some, but he has a big body and a unique ability to catch the ball in traffic.”"

Personally, I love the idea of mocking a wide receiver to the Minnesota Vikings, but there aren’t really any complete prospects at that position in this year’s draft and it could all come down to which traits the Vikings value most and who is still available when it is Minnesota’s turn to select.

While Mississippi’s Laquon Treadwell isn’t my favorite wide receiver in the 2016 NFL Draft, he could be a unique target for young quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to help a struggling Minnesota Vikings passing game. Fans all around the world will find out tonight, April 28, 2016, if Treadwell will be the player general manager Rick Spielman decides on adding to the returning NFC North champions.
