The Minnesota Vikings pulled off a trade with the Miami Dolphins, moving out of the third round in exchange for multiple picks.

Rick Spielman loves trading down more than fish love water. More than bears love honey. More than Adrian Peterson loves trucking fools.

Trading down is after all the way he garnered his reputation as a genius draft wheeler-and-dealer. The man knows how to exploit other teams’ eagerness!

Friday night, Spielman pulled off a very Spielman-esque maneuver, trading out of the third round and picking up multiple selections.

The details of the trade are as follows:

Miami Dolphins acquire the Minnesota Vikings’ third round pick, #86 overall.

The Vikings acquire Miami’s sixth-round pick this year, and third- and fourth-round picks in 2017.

The Dolphins really wanted to get Rutgers WR Leonte Carroo.

The Vikings now have six picks on the third day of the draft. Those picks are:

Round 4, pick 121

Round 5, pick 160

Round 6, pick 180

Round 6, pick 186

Round 7, pick 240

Round 7, pick 244

The Vikings have already made two draft selections, taking WR Laquon Treadwell in the first round and CB Mackensie Alexander in the second round.

Who will the Vikings target in rounds 4-7? Probably some offensive linemen, maybe linebackers, probably more defensive backs. Oh and some defensive linemen. Mike Zimmer won’t let this draft go by without picking up some more defensive linemen.

Two things you can be sure of: Mike Zimmer will make some interesting defensive picks, and Rick Spielman will swing some trades.

Hopefully all these moves will one day add up to playoff runs and maybe Super Bowl wins? Cause winning the draft, that’s really not very important in the grand scheme of things. Winning actual Lombardi trophies is what it’s supposed to be about. At least that’s what I always heard.
