U.S. Bank and the Minnesota Vikings have teamed up to fund the Places To Play grant to give assist parks, play places and schoolyards in improvements.

The Minnesota Vikings have done a lot in the past to give back to the community, especially when it comes to charities that involve children. That focus doesn’t seem to have changed, as the team has teamed with U.S. Bank to fund the Places To Play grant for 2016.

Places To Play is a program that will distribute over $1 million over the course of 3 years to play places around Minnesota. This program was created when the deal was made between the Vikings and the banking giant to create U.S. Bank Stadium and will distribute that money between 7 different organizations.

Reba Dominski, head of corporate social responsibility for U.S. Bank, is very pleased with their investment in the community and youth of Minnesota. According to the release on Vikings.com, programs like these can help people continue to push for their dreams.

"“At U.S. Bank, we invest our time, resources and passion to build and support vibrant communities that allow every person to work toward their possible. U.S. Bank Stadium gives us a tremendous platform, as well as a responsibility, to give back and create opportunities for our state’s families and youth through the Places to Play Program. We’re thrilled to support these first seven projects, which are driven by the vision, hard work and excitement of their surrounding communities.”"

The chosen projects that will benefit from this program hail from all over Minnesota, including Duluth, Fairmont, Minneapolis, and Saint Paul. Here are the projects and organizations which will receive a portion of the grant’s money:

  • Beltrami Neighborhood Council
  • Ecolibrium3
  • Fairmont Area Schools
  • Family Pathways
  • Joy of the People Foundation
  • The Trust for Public Land
  • Urban Ventures Leadership Foundation

Minnesota Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf also sees projects like Places To Play as an important part of helping the youth of the state grow.

"“These projects are making Minnesota an even better place to live and, just as importantly, to play,. They are providing opportunities for our kids, families and communities to grow together.”"
